Guidance for Employers on Staff Working From Home

It has now been over a week since government advice for non-essential staff working from home. As an Employer, you will continue to have a duty of care for staff, even if they are working at home.

The requirements of the health and safety legislation apply to homeworkers. ACAS has set out helpful guidance for employers and employees which we are sharing with all members and non-members here.

This guidance includes what employers and employees should be doing with a view to:

  • Health and safety requirements
  • Looking after physical and mental health
  • Equipment and technology
  • Setting clear expectations
  • Keeping in touch
  • Pay and T&C's
  • Working from home and childcare
  • Expenses
  • Insurance, mortgage or rent agreements

This resource also contains several links to useful government website help pages. Whilst also linking out to practical tools such as, "Preparing your organisation for homeworking," from the CIPD. This is a free download questionnaire, which you can customise to your business needs.
